    COVID-19: National Lockdown

COVID-19: In light of the national lockdown that will be instituted from 26/03/2020 to curb the spread of the SARS-cov2 coronavirus, all our services will be suspended from 27/03/2020 to 31/05/2020. The impact of the lockdown will affect all services that involve our administration - this includes operations such as obtaining traffic fine printouts to licence renewals and vehicle registrations.

Should the conditions of the pandemic improve by 31/05/2020 and the lockdown lifted/ scaled down, we will resume all services progressively. We urge one and all to take precaution and protect their health during this time by maintaining social distancing as well as adhere to strict sanitisation protocols.

    Johannesburg's Traffic Fine Infringement Levels

Get a better understanding of the infringement fine types and levels in Johannesburg and how these impact on your infringement status.

    Normal Fines

    • Normal fines or standard fines loaded onto the AARTO system immediately upon infringement or charge. An ideal time to settle fines.

    Courtesy Letters

    • Standard fines that are generally overdue. At this point, it is important to act quickly before your fine moves to an Enforcement Order.

    Enforcement

    • Enforcement orders are overdue fines that have been escalated to a warrant of arrest. This is generally where you do not want to be.

    Court Cases

    • These are fines that have been escalated beyond enforcement that now require legal assistance and appearance in court.
